If a rogue plugin update just broke your layout, or you accidentally deleted something critical, you don't need to rebuild from scratch if it happened within the last 24 hours. Because your site lives on our infrastructure, staXscale takes automatic, isolated daily backups of just your specific website.
HEADS UP: Before you restore, what actually happens?
A server rollback acts as a master "undo" button, but it is not a time machine for the last 5 minutes.
Because our servers take automatic backups once every 24 hours (usually overnight), restoring your site typically means rolling it back to exactly how it looked yesterday.
Important: Any changes made to your site after that specific backup was taken will be permanently erased. For example, if you received a new WooCommerce order, published a new blog post, or updated a page this morning, and you restore to yesterday's backup, that new data will be gone. Please ensure you are okay with losing today's changes in order to fix your broken layout!
(Pro tip for next time: You can take a manual "Restore Point" right before you update anything substantial on your site so your backup is only seconds old!)
Here is how to revert your site back to a working state in a few clicks:
Step 1: Access your dashboard
- Log into the Client Area at my.staxscale.com/clientarea.php.
- Look for your website URL and click Log in to dashboard right next to it.
Step 2: Open the backup manager
- Now that you are in the dashboard, look for and click the 'Backup & Restore' button.
- You will then see your most recent automatic server backup.
Step 3: Launch the restore
- Click on the Creation date of the backup you want to restore (e.g., yesterday's date, right before things went wrong).
- Look for the What do you want to restore? section. By default, the system selects "Selected objects" (which is meant for advanced users who only want to restore one specific file).
- To fix a broken website, change that button to All objects (entire system). This acts as a true master "undo" button and forcefully reverts all your files and databases back to exactly how they were.
- Leave the rest of the default settings exactly as they are, scroll to the bottom, and click the Restore button.
The server will begin unpacking the backup in the background. Depending on the size of your site, this usually takes a few minutes. Once it finishes, clear your browser cache, and your site should be right back to normal.
Please note that no backup can be guaranteed by any provider, so we always recommend a fail safe like CodeGuard or BlogVault for added protection.
