We automatically back up your site on our servers every 24 hours. However, if you are about to run major updates, change your theme, or deploy new custom code, relying on yesterday's automatic backup is risky. If an update breaks your site, restoring to yesterday means losing any work or orders you received today!
Taking a manual, instant backup creates a perfect "restore point" from this exact second. If your updates go sideways, you can instantly revert back with zero data loss.
(Note: If you use WordPress, the free "WP Rollback" plugin is great for reverting single plugin updates. But for massive structural changes or non-WordPress sites, a manual server backup is your ultimate safety net.)
Here is how to create that manual safety net before you update:
Step 1: Access Your Dashboard
- Log into the Client Area at my.staxscale.com/clientarea.php.
- Look for your website URL and click Log in to dashboard right next to it.
Step 2: Open the Backup Manager
- Now that you are in the dashboard, look for and click the 'Backup & Restore' button.
Step 3: Trigger the Manual Backup
This screen shows your list of recent automatic backups. To create a new manual one right now:
- Click the big, prominent blue button at the top labeled 'Back Up'.
- The backup settings page will load. To create the fastest backup, use these settings:
- Backup content: Ensure the boxes for User files and Databases are checked.
- Type: Select Incremental (this makes the process run much faster!).
- Comments: Type a quick note in the box so you remember why you made this specific backup (e.g., "Pre-Elementor Update").
- Click the blue 'OK' button at the bottom to start.
The server will begin packing up your site in the background. Once you see the green success message, you are officially safe to run your updates! If anything breaks, you can use this exact backup to immediately rewind your site.
